A CHURCH WEDDING IN TAORMINA

The Church is located in Piazza IX Aprile, just opposite the beautiful terrace from which you can admire breathtaking views, next to the clock tower. The church, dating from the second half of 1600, is reached by climbing the steps of a grand double staircase, fenced with a magnificent Syracuse stone balustrade, characterised by six artistic vases with agave plants that frame the main portal. The church, inside a single nave, is characterised by a transept in which centred inside a dome is the dove of the Holy Spirit. On the walls of the church, decorated with stucco are the reproductions of floral motifs and heads of winged angels, as well as figures of prophets and the evangelical facts. Underfoot, on the floor, a large plaque inlaid with black and white marble, depicts a human figure in the flames, concealing the common ossuary that every church had to bury the dead. 

 

 

A Catholic wedding is possible here and we can request permission for protestant weddings. The church is currently undergoing refurbishment.
